Royal Huisman unveils 81m ‘world’s tallest sloop’ sailing yacht project Sky
Royal Huisman has unveiled its latest sailing yacht concept, Sky, an 81-metre sloop that, once built, will feature the tallest mast ever installed on a yacht.
Designed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design (MMYD) with interior design by UK-based Winch Design, Sky features a 93-metre carbon mast by Rondal, which will stand as tall as the Statue of Liberty from ground to torch.
With naval architecture and engineering already largely complete, Sky is ready to build a delivery date of spring 2030. "Sky represents the next evolution of performance sailing yachts, a project that challenges convention in both scale and elegance," explained designer Malcolm McKeon.
"Her mast and powerful hull form express ambition and precision in equal measure, while her design remains focused on connection between those on board, the sea, and the experience of sailing itself."
The all-aluminium yacht is designed for global cruising, pairing a long waterline and lifting keel, with a powerful Rondal rig to deliver both performance and stability. Royal Huisman describes Sky as an "XXL superyacht" capable of sailing faster than the wind and outperforming motor yachts of a similar length.
Twin carbon composite rudders and an integrated sailing system will ensure responsive handling, while her flybridge and folding bulwarks create flexible spaces for open-air living. The design follows Royal Huisman and MMYD's award-winning collaboration on Sarissa, the 60-metre sloop which won 10 industry awards in 2024.
Below deck, Sky will feature an interior by Winch Design inspired by natural forms and coastal landscapes. The design blends sculptural lines, textured materials and a neutral palette to create what the studio describes as "an architectural sanctuary at sea".
