62m flagship ARES sailing yacht Simena on sea trials

ARES Yachts has released the first images of the 61.61-metre flagship ARES sailing yacht Simena, following her launch in July this year.

Simena is the largest project built to-date at the Antalya-based shipyard, as well as their first superyacht over 60 metres. Classically inspired and ketch-rigged, Simena features exterior design by Taka Yacht Design, while her interior was penned by Design Unlimited.

Built to RINA Charter Class C requirements, Simena has been engineered as a capable bluewater cruiser. Named after an ancient city in Turkey's Antalya province, her design merges traditional ketch aesthetics with refined hydrodynamics, while her interiors offer a contemporary take on classic yachting style.

Inside, Simena features tonal leathers and fabrics, walnut cabinetry and brass accents, complemented by marble bathrooms and subtle modern luxuries such as concealed TV lifts. She can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests and nine crew, with her full-beam owner's suite located forward on the main deck.

During sea trials, Simena achieved a top speed of 14 knots under power, demonstrating strong agility and balance under sail. "This is a truly proud moment for our entire team," said Piraye Sahinkaya Orhun, Yacht Projects Director at ARES Yachts.

"Simena exceeded our expectations during the trials, showing remarkable speed, manoeuvrability, and silence under hybrid and sail propulsion. She embodies everything we set out to achieve — performance, comfort and timeless elegance."

On deck, laid teak and varnished Sipo mahogany joinery aim to evoke a golden age of sailing. Simena also carries Doyle Stratis sails and B&G instrumentation, with Miele appliances fitted throughout her guest areas.
