111m diesel-electric Oceanco yacht Leviathan on sea trials

The 111-metre hybrid-electric Oceanco Y722 superyacht Leviathan has been spotted on sea trials following her launch from the Oceanco shipyard in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands in August 2025. The first sea trials began earlier this week, with the tests expected to continue into the week.

Launched on 10 August 2025, Leviathan is the shipyard's largest superyacht to date; by gross tonnage she remains just under 5,000 GT. Leviathan also introduces several other firsts for Oceanco with a completely reimagined general arrangement.

During an exclusive interview at the Monaco Yacht Show it was revealed that Leviathan is owned by Oceanco shareholder Gabe Newell, who has a strong focus on functionality and crew wellbeing. The diesel-electric yacht reflects a people-centric approach to yacht design, with systems and materials selected to reduce repetitive maintenance tasks for the crew.

Construction on Leviathan began in 2020 with her stern transported to Oceanco's Zwijndrecht facility in 2022. In 2023, the yacht was moved to outfitting at the Alblasserdam facility where the yacht was seen out of the shed for the first time.

Designed by Oceanco, the yacht features naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects and Oceanco, with interiors by Mark Berryman Design. One of the most distinctive aspects of Leviathan's design is her social layout, which reflects the owner's wish to foster a more integrated relationship between guests and crew. The project was developed for an experienced owner, with input from the owner's representatives Y.CO and YTMC.
